Last Friday the Ohio Treasurer's Office hosted a Women and Money Conference for consumers around Ohio. Topics included budgeting, investing, retirement planning, and Social Security programs. The OBB was invited to participate in this conference. Gayle Loyola, OBB Regional Coordinator for Southwestern Ohio, spoke during the opening panel discussion about the many services offered by the Ohio Benefit Bank. We were also able to talk with individuals at the conference about how the OBB could assist them!
During the conference, the Treasurer's Office discussed several programs administered through their office that assist consumers and local businesses. I included two examples that might be of interest to our Southeastern Ohio members.
- SaveNOW is a program that encourages Ohioans to open savings accounts by providing a higher interest rate than the traditional bank rates.
- Ag-Link is a program for Ohio farmers that allows farmers to borrow money at a reduced interest rate.
Details on these programs, as well as additional information about the conference can be found on the Treasurer's website: www.tos.ohio.gov
